ChX Tainsh New Dawn at BonniDune HSAs
STDs "Darcy"
January 1, 2000 - October 17, 2008
Darcy died while I was in St. Louis to judge the National Specialty.
The necropsy failed to identify what killed her, so I will never know why I lost her so suddenly. I console myself with the thought that she had never been sick a day in her life, and had been
bouncing around Wednesday, the day before she got sick and died. Darcy was always
the center of all the playing and games, always bouncing up and down, always
happy. I’m glad that she did not suffer a long time with a debilitating disease.
Darcy gave me many beautiful puppies, and she loved being a
mother. She will live on through them, and in my heart, forever.
Darcy was my pick of the litter when Duncan was bred to Sky
(Ch Dykebar Into the Future O'Tainsh). She didn't finish her
Championship until just after her fifth birthday, but that was only because we
had trouble finding shows at the same time that Darcy had any coat! When
all was said and done, Darcy finished with 18 points, four majors, seven Best
Opposite Sex and one Best
of Breed! I put Darcy's first two points on her, but thanks go to Missy Brown and Ronni DeLay for their
expert handling of Darcy in the breed ring.
In addition to her conformation career, Darcy repeatedly showed her style on the herding trial field.
She earned her ASCA STDs title with placements in a large, competitive Started
class. She won 2nd place the first day, and then she tied with her father,
Duncan, for 1st place the next day. Duncan won the tie on time, but I am quite
proud of Darcy's two 2nd places her first weekend trialing.
In AKC events, Darcy earned her HSAs with a 2nd place and
two 3rd places , plus a 4th place "bumper" leg, in two consecutive
weekends.
Darcy was also trained to Novice level in obedience.
Darcy turned out to be an excellent mother, and her puppies were everything I'd hoped for
and more! Myst finished her
championship when she was only 15 months old. I co-owned Myst
until she had her second litter, and she is now owed soley by Debbie Willoughby.
I now co-own Darcy's granddaughter out of Myst,
Reiver.
BonniDune kept a puppy from Darcy's second litter,
Sheena and from her third litter I kept
Poco. The girls
have
their own pages, which can be reached from
Meet the
Dogs.
In only three litters, Darcy has created quite a legacy. In her very first litter she
produced two AKC Dual Champions. A Dual Champion is a dog with a breed championship and a herding
championship. Darcy is the mother of Dual Champion BonniDune Front Paige News HXAsd AOM.
Paige won High In Trial at her very first AKC herding trial and
a Judge's Award of Merit at the Border Collie Club of Greater Los Angeles' 2005 Regional Specialty. Paige also won Winners Bitch and Best of
Winners at the BCCofGLA 2006 Regional Specialty. She is a multi-Best of Breed winner, and earned a Group 2 her first weekend as a Special.
Darcy's son, Dual Champion BonniDune This Bud's For Ewe HXAsd ATDsdc, won High In Trial
his first weekend at an AKC Herding Trial. In his first ASCA trials,
Bud placed in Sheep, Ducks and Cattle both days, and won Most Promising
Started Other Breed! Bud is now working toward his
AHBA and ASCA Herding Championships.
Darcy's son, Ch BonniDune Bombs Away RA HSAds HSBs MX AXJ XF NAC NJC TN-O TG-N WV-N CL3-R CL3-H CL3-S
CL3-F, won the 2005 National Specialty Puppy Sweepstakes
and also won Best Opposite Sex at the Performance Titled Match that same year. He one-upped that, winning Best of Breed at the 2006
BCSA National Specialty Performance Titled Match. In
2008 Blitz won the Champions class at the National Specialty Performance Titled
Match.Blitz has even competed in Dock-Diving, and showed all the Labs that a Border Collie can
be serious competition!
In very little showing, Darcy's son, BonniDune A
Mac of Ewe Tu won a three-point major by going Best of Breed over specials.
Her son, BonniDune Risky Business CDX is competing in
obedience and herding. Her daughter, BonniDune Winner Takes All is getting
ready to compete in agility and herding. Another daughter, BonniDune Class
Act Chloe won 2nd place at her first ASTA herding trial. Finally, her
son Int Ch Hamilton's Impressive Repeat JHD HRD-1s, won first place in the 6-9 month class at the 2006 Kentuckiana Cluster
and is now working toward his AKC Championship. Pete
has also shown great promise on the herding trial field.
